As Christians we are
expected to love one another more or just as much as we love ourselves. We must
realize that Alcoholics have a problem which has spiraled out of their control
and we should do all that is in our power to support them and guide them
through their time of trouble and strife. We must realize that alcoholics are
not beneath us because an addiction to something harmful or sinful can affect
any one of us. We are not better than any other person or above the afflictions
and temptations of the world which is our temporary home. None of us can save we are without sin or
that we are perfect each and every day because that is a lie. Christians sin although
they try not to because through sin many people have found redemption and
gained a stronger faith and love for Jesus Christ our savior. Alcohol is just
the certain catalyst that has led to the destruction of these people’s and has
temporarily lead them off track such as lying , cheating , stealing and
swearing has done others. Notice that I said temporarily because God looks upon
us and grants us the strength to pull through our sins and turn away from it,
this can be through a dream or him using his children to help and give aid to
those who are struggling. Believers should understand that we
are expected to live at Early Church did, where there was no judgment or fear
but co-operation and love. Everyone within that community wanted for nothing or
struggled as we do now because they had neighbors who shared and cared for them
and unfortunately you do not encounter that kind of compassion and high regard
for human lives and emotions in this generation.
As a Christian if you
have a family member or friend or have even met someone who is an alcoholic and
is in need of help the first thing I believe you should do is talk to them to see
their exact dependence on alcohol and the depth of their addiction. You can
decipher the truth from fraudulent information by watching body language such
as shaking, hesitating and other nervous movements that are linked to Alcoholism
you can also tell by appearance. Also try to pinpoint, observe and unearth the
problem that is driving the alcoholic to consume alcohol, maybe if that
situation is removed or resolved it may make a big difference in the person’s struggle.
The thing to remember is that most alcoholics are in denial of their addiction
so half of the time most friends and families of Alcoholics are too late in
noticing the destructive pattern of a beloved one before it advances to a deleterious
action. I think you should let the alcoholic know that even though they are
participating in a risky activity God still loves them and is willing to
forgive them for all that they have done, you should also offer your support
and prayers for the persons wellbeing and future sobriety.
If this fails you should
stage an intervention with the alcoholics Parents, spouse or anyone who they
love and hold in high esteem immediately.
